myGovID serves as the Australian Government's digital identity application, enabling you to verify your identity and log into various government online services effortlessly.

It's important to note that myGovID is distinct from the myGov platform. The myGovID application can be utilized to access your myGov account.

Setting up your myGovID is simple and can be accomplished in three straightforward steps:

1. Get the myGovID application.
2. Input your information, including your complete name, birthdate, and a personal email address that you alone can access.
3. Confirm your identity to boost your identity strength. There are three levels of identity strength available: Basic, Standard, and Strong. Elevating your identity strength allows you to access a wider range of services and enhances the protection of your identity.

To increase your identity strength, verify your Australian identification documents, such as your passport, driver's license, or Medicare card. These documents will be cross-referenced with existing government databases. Furthermore, you have the option to perform a one-time face verification for an additional identity strength boost. This function scans your face in real-time to confirm that you are indeed a live individual and the correct person for verification.

To initiate your myGovID setup, you must be at least 15 years old; however, certain online government services may have additional age restrictions. For eligibility regarding specific services, please refer to their terms of use.

Your personal data will remain confidential unless you grant permission for it to be shared, giving you complete control. myGovID is certified under the Australian Trusted Digital Identity Framework, which ensures strict regulation over how your identity information is gathered, stored, and utilized.
